The Guest House

Korea, Pyeongchang

2018

Designed as a monumental retreat for a large family, this residence strikes a perfect balance between grand social spaces and the serenity of its hillside setting. The home’s interior is anchored by a dramatic, double-height living volume where a polished granite feature wall and an open-plan layout encourage effortless communal gathering.

Expansive floor-to-ceiling windows and a series of tiered wooden decks extend the living space directly into the landscape, framing panoramic views of the surrounding forest and mist. By combining the permanence of limestone with the warmth of natural timber, the architecture creates an enduring sanctuary that celebrates both multi-generational life and the beauty of the natural world.
